Common carp
There is much variation among the European whitefish forms, but in general they have a tapered body, a slightly protruding upper jaw and a fleshy dorsal fin that is typical of the salmon family. The snout is short and tapered, a fact that distinguishes this species from the two other North European Coregonus species, vendace (Coregonus albula) and the introduced peled (Coregonus peled). The former has a protuberant lower jaw while in the latter, the jaws are equal in length. The back is bluish green or brownish, the flanks silvery and the belly white. The fins are dark grey. This fish seldom grows more than 55 cm (22 in) long or exceeds 2 kg (4.4 lb) in weight.

Grass Carp
Grass carp have elongated, chubby, torpedo-shaped body forms. The terminal mouth is slightly oblique with non-fleshy, firm lips, and no barbels. The complete lateral line contains 40 to 42 scales. Broad, ridged pharyngeal teeth are arranged in a "2, 4-4, 2" formula. The dorsal fin has eight to 10 soft rays, and the anal fin is set closer to the tail than most cyprinids. Body color is dark olive, shading to brownish-yellow on the sides, with a white belly and large, slightly outlined scales. Grass carp grow very rapidly. Young fish stocked in the spring at 20 cm (7.9 in) will reach over 45 cm (18 in) by fall. The typical length is about 60–100 cm (23.5–39.5 in). The maximum length is 2.0 m (6.6 ft) and they grow to 45 kg (99 lb).

Catfish
Catfish (Silurus glanis) is a fish from the Siluridae family. It has an elongated body, wide and stocky in the front part, slightly flattened in the back part at the level of the tail fin. The skin has no scales and is covered with mucus that gives the soma a sticky appearance. Its head is large and massive, longitudinally flattened and ends in a wide open mouth, with 6 whiskers, 2 long ones on the upper jaw and 4 slightly shorter ones on the lower jaw. It has a very well developed lateral stripe so that it can feel even the smallest vibrations of a possible prey. The high-set eye is small, which suggests night life. The long anal fin ends at the level of the caudal fin, from which it is separated only by a small notch. The body is gray with darker spots on the back and sides, while the belly is lighter in color.

Pike
Having a broad range of tolerances for water temperature, clarity and oxygen content allows Northern pike to be extremely adaptable to different conditions. Northern pike average 46 to 51 cm (18-20 inches) in length. They can be identified by their single dorsal fin and light-colored spots along their dark body. They are also recognized by scales that cover their entire cheek and the upper half of their gill covers. Their close relative, the muskellunge (Esox masquinongy), have scales covering only the upper half of their cheek and gill covers. The sides of E. lucius vary from dark shades of green to olive green to brown, with 7 to 9 rows of yellowish, bean-shaped spots. The underside is white to cream-colored.
