Welcome to the Heart of Central Dalmatia

The Cetina River, an emerald beauty of central Dalmatia, stretches over a length of 100.5 km, offering a perfect combination of natural beauty and rich history. Its source, located near the town of Vrlika in the village of Cetina, emerges from karst springs at the base of the Dinara Mountain, at an altitude of 385 meters. From here, the Cetina begins its journey towards the Adriatic Sea, flowing through picturesque landscapes and historical landmarks that take your breath away.

A River Like No Other

For passionate fly fishing enthusiasts, the Cetina offers an unparalleled experience, and its clean and potable waters are home to various endemic fish species such as the Illyrian chub (Leuciscus illyricus), the Cetina chub/ukliva (Leuciscus ukliva), and the huchen (Aulopyge hügeli). Moreover, the upper part of the basin up to the entrance to Peruča Lake has been part of the Dinara Nature Park since 2021, while the Cetina canyon, from Omiš upstream to the Tisno rocks (8 km), has been declared a significant landscape since 1963. The Cetina has tributaries, Ruda and Grab, where it is also possible to catch beautiful specimens of trouts.

Your fishing expedition begins in the morning when you and your fishing guide travel or meet at the best fishing spot, depending on which part of the Cetina River you choose to explore and investigate. Throughout the day, you will have breaks for snacks and refreshments, and if desired, we can organize lunch or dinner in local restaurants where you can discover local traditional and delicious dishes. This extraordinary opportunity allows you to enjoy fishing while being surrounded by the natural beauty and rich history of the region.

More Than Just Fishing

However, Cetina is not just a paradise for fishermen. Along the river, historical fortresses narrate the turbulent past of this area. From the Fortress of Prozor near Vrlika, through the famous Fortress Stari Grad of Sinj, to the Fortress of Mirabela and Fortica overseeing Omiš, each fortress has its unique story.

From the source of the Cetina River to its estuary, you can explore numerous historical attractions. Near the source, visit the Fortress of Prozor in Vrlika, which provides insight into the rich history of the region. Traveling down the river, do not miss visiting the Sinjska Alka, a traditional knightly game held every year in August and part of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage. In Trilj, you will be surrounded by the fortresses of Nutjak and Čačvina, and at the estuary in Omiš, known for its rich pirate history, explore the Fortress of Mirabela and the Fortress of Fortica, which offer spectacular views of the town and its surroundings. Also, walk across the bridges over the Cetina River, like the Balečki Bridge and the Roman Bridge at Han, which represent true historical jewels and provide extraordinary views, serving as gateways to the past. These bridges are not only vital connections but also witnesses to the times that have shaped this region.

The rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is a species of fish. It is farmed in some places. Like species of trout, the rainbow trout is related to salmon. It is called a rainbow trout because its scales are colorful and shiny. Adult freshwater stream rainbow trout average between 0.5 and 2.5 kilograms (1 and 5 lb), while lake-dwelling and anadromous forms may reach 9 kg (20 lb).  Adult fish are distinguished by a broad reddish stripe along the lateral line, from gills to the tail, which is most vivid in breeding males.
