The river Cetina is located in central Dalmatia, with a length of 100.5 km. It originates near the town of Vrlika, at the bottom of the Dinara Mountain at an elevation of 385 meters. From its source to Zadvarje, it flows southeastward, then in the direction of east-west, and near the mouth turns southward, cutting through the Omis Dinara before flowing into the Adriatic Sea.In its upper course, the river hosts the species of fish such as Paraphoxinus, as well as endemics like the Illyrian chub (Leuciscus illyricus), Cetina chub (Leuciscus ukliva), subbile (Chondrostoma phoxinus), and Aulopyge hügeli. The river is partially protected, and its sources have been declared a natural monument since 1972. Additionally, the upper part of the basin up to the entrance to Lake Peruča is part of the Dinara Nature Park since 2021. The Cetina Canyon from Omiš upstream to the cliffs of Tisni (8 km) has been a significant landscape since 1963.

Locations for spinning different species of trout can be found on the Cetina River in areas where this type of fishing is allowed, as well as on the lakes Peruća and Plana, where spinning is permitted across the entire lake. Lakes Peruća and Plana are ideal for pike spinning, as they have a large population of this predatory fish. If you're interested in stationary fishing, it's possible to catch pike using live bait. You'll be thrilled with the catch of giant pike while enjoying the beautiful nature around you. Our guides will take you to special and beautiful spots where giant pike await to take your bait.

Rainbow (Californian) trout

The rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is a species of fish. It is farmed in some places. Like species of trout, the rainbow trout is related to salmon. It is called a rainbow trout because its scales are colorful and shiny. Adult freshwater stream rainbow trout average between 0.5 and 2.5 kilograms (1 and 5 lb), while lake-dwelling and anadromous forms may reach 9 kg (20 lb).  Adult fish are distinguished by a broad reddish stripe along the lateral line, from gills to the tail, which is most vivid in breeding males.
